Stages of thermovision inspection

Stages of thermovision inspection

Specialists of “Regional Energy Efficiency Office” perform thermovision inspection using high-tech equipment produced in Japan and the USA. The works are performed in accordance with the instructions of GOST 54852-2011. At the site of the customer, door and window openings, roofs, wall constructions, foundations and other elements of buildings are scanned for the presence of hidden defects and technical anomalies. The inspection takes place in several stages.

External inspection

Having arrived at the object, the specialist is engaged in preparation works and records the values of the following indicators:

  • Surface temperature of wall structures;
  • Wind flow rate;
  • Humidity level;
  • Ambient temperature.

The preparatory phase takes about half an hour, after which the measurement data are entered in the memory of the thermal imaging camera. The measuring instrument is adjusted, calibrated, and the expert starts the detailed and panoramic survey outside the building. The procedure takes from one to two hours.

Internal inspection

Internal thermovision inspection of the buildings taking from one to two hours, allows to detect about 90% of defects. Detected shortcomings are caused by the following factors:

  • Violation of general rules and regulations of construction;
  • Poor performance of thermal insulation layer.

Scanning in the premises is not selective. Attention is given to each junction, corner, door or window. Careful survey reveals almost all hidden flaws, which cannot be found in other ways.

Analysis of the obtained results

Once the external and internal thermovision inspection of buildings is completed, analysis of detected deficiencies is carried out based on the data of each thermogram. The map of defects, abnormal zones with the indication of temperature parameters is developed individually for each plot. Based on this information, a report is prepared with instructions on how to correct the defects.

Time for the survey

Scanning with the use of thermal imaging camera is carried out in autumn or winter. This time of year, when the heating system operates, the temperature of external air falls to low or negative marks. The difference between outdoor and indoor temperatures gives 15°C or more, which creates conditions for objective survey.
